اكتشف باحثون في المكسيك حفرتين ترجعان إلى 15 ألف عاماً، تحتويان على بقايا عظام لأكثر من 12 حيواناً من الماموث. وجرى اكتشاف الحفرتين خلال أعمال تنقيب في موقع مكب نفايات معتزم في تولتبك، على بعد 40 كيلومتراً شمال العاصمة المكسيكية.

ولفت الباحثون إلى أنّ “الحفرتين تؤكدان أن الصيادين والجامعين في أواخر العصر البلستوسيني كانوا أكثر تنظيماً مما كان يعتقد سابقاً”.

وأوضح العلماء أنّ “عمق كل حفرة يبلغ نحو 1.7 متر وقطرها 25 متراً، فيما تبلغ زاوية جدرانهما 90 درجة مئوية، وجرى العثور على أكثر من 800 عظمة لـ14 ماموث مختلفاً”.

وفي السياق، أشار منسق الآثار في المعهد الوطني لعلم الإنسان والتاريخ بيدرو سانشير نافا إلى أنّ “اكتشاف وسيلة صيد الماموث هذه يمثل تغييراً في التفكير بشأن التفاعل بين البشر والأنواع المختلفة”.
